I’m going to tell you how to succeed in sales but if you are not ready for some straight talk, you should click away from this page now. You see, the question is not how to succeed in sales. The real question is what are you doing to succeed in sales.

Few Truly Know How To Succeed In Sales

We all know the 80/20 Rule. Twenty percent of the salespeople earn eighty percent of the commissions, leaving the remaining eighty percent of the salespeople to share their scraps. Unfortunately, 80% of salespeople will never fully succeed in sales or they’ll just get by, and bounce from job to job. They either don’t know how to succeed in sales or they are not doing anything to increase sales. Their pipelines are often packed with prospects that will never buy from them yet they do little to improve their sales prospecting skills.

How Not To Succeed In Sales

I want to quickly explain the circumstances that prompted me to write this post. I got a call from a friend that recently changed jobs and is now a Sales Manager for a local Data Center. He asked me for some help with one of his reps. This rep has been “selling” for six years and is struggling to succeed in sales.  I agreed to go on a sales call with the rep and report back to my friend, the sales manager. My mission was to discover how to help this rep to succeed in sales.

There is no need to go into the details about the appointment except to say my mission was accomplished. I discovered why this rep was struggling to succeed in sales. To be blunt, this rep didn’t know how to sell. The appointment was not structured and it was just a little more than a pricing presentation. Unless this rep acquired some sales skills, he would never succeed in sales.

We got back to the office and I had a little chat with the rep. The rep was a very nice, open and a well meaning person. I wanted to help this rep succeed in sales so I conducted a sales skills assessment with him.  The assessment confirmed what I already uncovered during the appointment. The sad part is that this rep had very little sales training and that training was years ago. So, some blame goes to his employers. The truly sad part is that this rep never thought of getting some sales training, buying a book or listening to a CD, yet expected to succeed in sales. Simply stated, this rep did not even know how to succeed in sales.

Succeed In Sales With Powerful Sales Skills

How in the world can you succeed in sales if you lack sales skills? You’ll never succeed in sales or enjoy great sales success unless you possess superior sales skills. Selling isn’t about aimless talking and presenting a price. The only way to succeed in sales is to get the sales skills required for success. Failure to do so will place you on the wrong side of the 80/20 Rule. Succeed in sales by mastering the sales process.

Too many think that to succeed in sales, all you have to do is work harder and nothing could be further from the truth. What good is working harder at things that don’t work in the first place? That’s not how to succeed in sales.

How To Succeed In Sales

Now for the straight talk. Why should you succeed in sales? Are you focused on improving your sales skills, sales strategies and techniques every month? Do you know how often you were simply outsold? Only you can answer these questions. Take a hard look at what you are doing to succeed in sales and if you are not doing enough on the skills side, get going! There is great money to be made and great success to be enjoyed. Ask that top 20% how great thing are when you truly succeed in sales.

A professional sales career is a profession that requires skills. You can get my sales training program or any other sales training program but do something to succeed in sales. It’s up to you to get the training you need and that training is never over. You must perfect your sales skills every month. That’s how to succeed in sales.

I only want you to succeed in sales and join that 20% that’s making all the money. That’s my passion and my wish for you. You can do it but it’s up to you to make it happen.
