The Right Sales Goals
It’s the time of the year for new sales goals. First, you need sales goals for the new year and then you need a plan to achieve those sales goals. Today, let’s insure your new sales goals include all you need to succeed in the new sales year.
Sales Goals For The New Year
I suggest your sales goals for the new year have more to do than just achieving your new sales quota. Your sales goals should be must higher than some assigned sales quota. So, base your new sales goals on the amount of money you want to earn in the New Year. Set your own sales quota and insure it allows you to achieve your income goals for the new year. Now you are thinking and operating like a top pro!
How To Set Sales Goals
Too many sales reps make the mistake of establishing sales goals on an annual number. All too often, that yearly number is long forgotten by the end of the first quarter. Slice that annual sales goal into monthly increments. Doing so will accomplish two things:
1) Your new sales goals are visible every month
2) If you fall behind, you can adjust your sales goal for the following month.
New Sales Goals Are More Than Numbers
The typical sales goals for the new year reads like a laundry list of numbers. “I’m going on ten more new appointments every month.” “I’m going to close 20 additional orders by the end of the year.” You need more than just activity based statistics. Besides, there is only one number that tops the list, your close rate.
What’s your plan to improve your close rate in the new year? What’s your plan to be a better sales rep and improve your sales skills and sales strategies? If your only plan is to work harder, you’ll have a difficult time achieving you sales goals for the new year. Make this the year you master the sales process.
Insure you’ll achieve your sales goals by improving your sales skills. A skills development effort must be part of your sales goals for the new year. Here is a clip from an inexpensive yet highly effective sales training program on DVD that may be what you need to achieve your new sales goals.
