I don’t think there is a sales rep in the world that wakes up in the morning and hopes to just have an average day. Salespeople are driven by a need for sales success. The desire for more income and the need to feed those competitive juices are all fueled by one thing, the drive for sales success. I have advice for you about sales success.

According to well-established 80/20 Rule, most salespeople never get to enjoy great sales success. This Rule states that 20% of all sales reps close 80% of the business. That leaves 20% of the business left for the remaining 80% of the salespeople. With that rather sad ratio, 80% of all salespeople never get to enjoy overwhelming sales success. Instead of closing orders, they spend their time writing Lost Order Reports.
The best way to generate sales success is to focus on the 20% of the top sales reps that are making all the money. What are they doing to enjoy all that sales success? As a sales trainer, my life’s passion has been the study of the best practices of the top sales professionals but you need to go further than that to fully understand their sales success.

They love to sell. The top pros are competitive and driven to generate sales success. Yes, they enjoy their work but that’s not enough to explain their overwhelming sales success. The top sales pros also know that the work they do is very important. After all, they are solving real problems for people and businesses in their local communities. This “higher calling” contributes to their sales success. It is hard to be motivated if you think the work you are doing is not important and that’s one more reason why too many salespeople never enjoy great sales success. “Selling” is important work and you need to see it as such if you expect to succeed in sales.
They use powerful sales skills. Sales success requires the possession and use of powerful sales skills. The top pros are serious about their sales strategies and are always looking for ways to get more sales success by using improved sales skills. A career in sales is no place for armatures so focus on solid Major Account Sales Strategies. Sales success will always go to those willing to invest time and money in their careers. The quickest path to overwhelming sales success is sales training and prospecting training.
