I always try to be positive but at times, looking at things differently makes great points. I’ve been around “Sales” for quite some time and today I’d like to give you some advice on reasons salespeople fail and how to fix it.

Salespeople That Fail To Successfully Prospect
Salespeople that lack proper prospecting skills struggle to get appointments. Since their sales activity is low, they waste time going on any appointment, even if it’s not qualified. Poor prospecting is a leading reason why sales reps fail.

Salespeople That Failure To Follow The Sales Process
Hard to believe, but I have met “sales reps” that were never introduced to the steps in the Sales Process. I’ve met other reps that understood the Sales Process but for some reason stopped using it. Salespeople will fail if they are not using the Sales Process.

Salespeople Fail To Ask For The Order
There are some salespeople that have a fear of closing so they never ask for the order. Salespeople that fail to ask for the order will never succeed in sales. These reps need to quickly improve their sales closing skills. Poor closing skills is another reason sales reps fail.

Salespeople Fail Due To A Lack Of Sales Strategies
In order to succeed in sales, you must be strategic. You need a solid Plan and the sales techniques to implement that Plan. Another reason sales reps fail has to do with a failure to employ solid sales strategies.

Salespeople Fail To Overcome Objections
Some salespeople simply give up after hearing a sales objection. These salespeople will fail at sales because they don’t understand the nature of objections and how to handle them. The top sales pros know all about overcoming sales objections. Sales reps that don’t know how to overcome objections will fail at sales.

Salespeople Fail To Qualify Prospects
Another reason reps fail at sales has to do with how they spend their time. You’ll never succeed at sales if you spend your time with people that can’t, or never will  buy from you. That’s a sales technique for failure.

Salespeople Fail To Sell Benefits
If a prospect wants a clean floor, sell them a clean floor and not a mop. Salespeople fail when they are too focused on features and forget to sell benefits. This reason for sales failure can be fixed with the right sales training courses.

Salespeople Fail To Connect With Prospects
Sales Reps that lack rapport-building skills will fail at sales. Prospects want to work with confident salespeople that are viewed as trusted consultant. Sales reps fail when they fail to develop “trust” between themselves and their prospect.

Salespeople Fail To Establish Pre Call Sales Plan
Salespeople need an objective for every appointment. If you don’t clearly know what you want to accomplish, how will you know when the sales appointment has come to an end?  Sales reps fail at sales when they fail to achieve their objectives, or fail to establish objectives in the first place. Fix this problem with advanced sales training.

Salespeople Fail Due To A Lack Of Sales Skills
Salespeople fail when they take sales skills for granted. Selling requires powerful skills and your get those skills in powerful sales training. That’s the only way to close more sales.

Stay away from the above reasons sales reps fail at sales and keep your career on track. Find help in some solid sales training programs if you need to do more to succeed in sales.
