Advice On How To Improve In Sales
By, Nick Moreno
As a sales trainer it should come to no surprise that I’m often asked how to improve in sales. I always answer that question with another question. “What are you doing right now to improve in sales?” The answer I receive most often never surprises me.
The response I receive most often has to do with working harder. I then ask if that strategy is working and I’m always told it’s not. Assuming you are already working hard, working even harder is not how to improve in sales. What good is working harder at things that aren’t working to improve sales in the first place? I have better advice for those that want to learn how to improve in sales. Get focused on solid sales training programs.

To succeed in sales, you need to know how to put powerful sales skills to good use. I find it so obvious that you can improve in sales by improving your sales techniques. Why is this the last thing most people think about when they want to improve in sales? I assume it is because they feel they already have all the skills they need. I urge these sales people to base their assumptions on their sales results. Let your performance determine if you can improve in sales by improving your sales skills.
How To Improve In Sales With Sales Training
I feel it is necessary to separate sales prospecting from sales skills. You may have great sales skills but if you’re not attracting enough prospects, you’ll never improve in sales. Reps that have this problem can improve in sales by getting some sales prospecting training. They need to learn how to provide prospects with a compelling reason to meet with them. Once that happens, they’ll improve in sales.
