Advice On How To Run A Successful National Sales Meeting
By, Nick Moreno
I have some advice for you that will help you run a successful National Sales Meeting. Here are some tips on ways to run an effective meeting for your National Sales Team.
Compensation Plans At National Sales Meetings
Most National Sales Meeting cover new revisions to the commission structure. If you feel you have to “sell” your reps on the new Compensation Plan, please understand that salespeople know when they’re being sold something. Either justify the Plan by focusing on new tools that will help them sell more or get a new Compensation Plan. I’ve seen too many National Sales Meetings fall apart when the new Comp Plan was introduced. Here is how to introduce a new Comp Plan and still run an effective National Sales Meeting.
Never have someone from the Finance or Compensation present the new Commission Plan at your National Sales Meeting. The Vice President of Sales should present the New Commission Plan at your National Sales Meeting. If the Plan is too complicated for the VP of Sales to explain, get a new Plan. I know this may be difficult but it’s a key point on how to run a successful National Sales Meeting.
Recognition At A National Sales Meeting
Recognize your top sales performers at the National Sales Meeting. However, insure you are recognizing the right people for the right things. Get the numbers right. Also, a National Sales Meeting is not the time to recognize every Home Office sales support employee. I know you appreciate how hard these people work every day so recognize them, but do it at a Home Office meeting. Focus on the field employees and you’re sure to run an effective National Sales Meeting.
New Experiences At Your National Sales Meeting
Salespeople should be encouraged to meet other salespeople at the National Sales Meeting. So, ask them to please not sit in groups. In fact, ask them to please not sit next to someone from their own office. You want your reps to meet and learn from others. New experiences go a long way in running a successful National Sales Meeting.
Invite a guest keynote speaker to present at your National Sales Meeting. The speaker will motivate your team and salespeople will enjoy hearing from someone outside the company. Let a powerful guest speaker add to your National Sales Meeting’s success.
Group Meetings And Rep Involvement
Have a few “brain storming” sessions at the National Sales Meeting. Salespeople have a need to provide input and they know best about want clients want and need. Divide the group into smaller groups and give each group a different topic to discuss. Have a leader from each group present their finding to the entire group at the National Sales Meeting. Rep involvement is key if you want to run a National Sales Meeting successfully.
Employee Development At A National Sales Meeting
Place some focus on sales training at the National Sales Meeting. After all, Sales is profession that requires skills so take time to further develop those sales skills at your National Sales Meeting. Consider giving each salesperson a sales training CD or DVD as a gift for attending the National Sales Meeting. The focus must be on advanced sales training. That’s how to run a successful National sales Meeting!
