We’ve all heard the saying that salespeople must believe in their product if they expect to generate clients. I think it goes much further than just belief in a product. Allow me to explain why you must believe in what you sell.
Believe In What You Sell And Enjoy What You Are Doing
People often ask me what products sell best in a slow economy and that’s the wrong way to find the right product. Instead of starting with a product, salespeople should start with themselves. What do you enjoy and what excites you? It’s not about the right product for the economy. It’s about the right product for you. When you’re selling something you enjoy, you’re selling with unstoppable passion. If you enjoy a product or industry, you also believe in what you’re selling. How do you pack that message in a sales training CD? I wish I knew how to package passion. I hope my passion is obvious in all my sales training programs.
Why You Must Believe In What You’re Selling
I’m passionate about helping salespeople increase their sales results with advanced sales training. It makes me feel good about myself and the work I’m doing. If I didn’t feel that way, I’d find another profession.
How good can you become at doing something you don’t enjoy doing? On the other hand, work isn’t work when you’re doing something you truly enjoy. Believing in a product is very important but being passionate about a product or industry takes it to the next level. Prospects can see your passion if you believe in what you are selling.

People also need to know that the work they perform is important. It’s hard to get motivated about doing something that isn’t important. We prosper when we know the work we are doing is important.
Sales is very important work. Salespeople generate revenue, the lifeblood of any business. Salespeople also solve real problems for people and businesses in their community. I hope all salespeople understand that the work they perform every day is very important work. My work is sales training and I know helping salespeople to succeed is important work.
Remember to enjoy your work and sell with passion. All that happens when a sell a product you enjoy and believe.
