When To Hold A Weekly Sales Meeting

Sales managers often ask me when is the best day of the week to hold a sales meeting. My take on this subject is a little different but I can tell you it worked well for me during my career. Some days are better days than others and the key is to get the most out of your sales meetings.

Most sales meetings are held on Monday mornings. Well, I hate Monday mornings. Salespeople still have their weekend blood in their veins. It takes time to get back on track and into the race.

Monday is still a good day of the week to have a sales meeting. I just object to the morning stuff. I prefer Monday at 4:30.  By 4:30, reps are back on track. My meetings usually ran for an hour and each one was carefully planed. I know my team appreciated it.

When you spend time with your team, you have a responsibility to make each moment productive. Reps will see through meetings that are held just for the sake of having a meeting. If a manager is just going to “wing it”, expect your reps to just attend but not participate or gain anything from the sales meeting.

Make a point of including some sales training at each sales meeting. Employee development is a must and sales skills must also be on the mind of every salesperson. After all, it’s a “sales” meeting!

So, what day of the week gets my vote as best for having a sales meeting? I vote Monday, at 4:30.

My best to you!

Nick
