Are You The Best Salesperson?
Ask ten sales reps who is the best at selling and all ten will say, “I am”. Nine are wrong. Granted, we need confident egos to succeed in sales but those egos also cause problems.
Many professional golfers will readily admit that Tiger Woods is the best golfer. You can’t overlook dominance like we see from the Lance Armstrong’s of the world. However, that’s not the case in sales. Every sales rep thinks they are the best. This is a problem.
So how come all these reps are not on the top of the ranking reports? Now we get the excuses,
I didn’t get lucky
They got lucky
I have a bad territory
And so on,
I don’t know the name of the world’s best sales rep but I can tell you a few things about him or her.
They work hard
They are serious about sales skills
They enjoy their work
They earn a lot of money
Did you find yourself in the above description? If not, what’s your plan to improve sales?
The problem with thinking you are the best is that you fail to see reasons to improve. Then again, the best are the best because they are always looking for reasons to improve.
Funny how things work.
