Creative Sales Ideas For Creative Sales Reps
Creative sales ideas require sales reps to think “outside the box” and that’s not as easy as one may think. There are powerful forces that that keep reps “in the box”. The average sales rep has no control over pricing, delivery, contract terms and a host of other policies, procedures, processes and guidelines.
There is another force that snuff out creative sales ideas. I hate to say it but too many sales training programs interfere with the development of creative sales ideas. Sales trainers spend too much time explaining how things should be accomplished. It’s no wonder that’s it’s difficult for many reps not to sound like every other sales rep. I rather help sales reps to “think like the top reps think” and that’s at the center of all my sales training programs. “When you think like a top pro, creative sales ideas begin to flow.” I think I just came up with my new tag line! In any event, I do have some advice for you.
Here are a few creative sales ideas that should get the bounce back in your step,
What can you do after trying everything to get past an administrative assistant so you can finally reach the decision maker? I urge you to try this creative sales idea.
Contact a sales rep in that company and explain that you want to begin networking with them. Ask about their target market and arrange for a meeting at their office. Bring a few leads or contact information with you. Develop that relationship first and then ask for an introduction to the decision maker. Bingo, the doors open!
Looking for sales prospects? Well, I have another creative sales idea for you to consider. Look up your clients in a business social networking site. Their profile will tell you where they’ve previously worked and will also list their contacts. The obvious next step is to ask for an introduction or referral. This creative sales idea should help you pack your funnel with qualified prospects.
I have time for one more creative sales idea. This creative sales idea is a new twist on selling benefits. You may think you know how your product benefits clients but why not find out for sure by interviewing your customers. This information will take your sales process to new heights.
You’ll discover things you’ve never heard from marketing. Next, ask your customer to be a reference for you. Then, put that information to work on your next prospecting cold call. “I’ve increased sales at the BCD Company by 20% in just 30 days and I believe I can do the same for you!” Who can resist an offer like that? This creative sales idea gives life to those benefits and makes them real. I use this sales strategy because sales training isn’t a benefit. The benefit is the 20% increase in sales.
Set yourself free because only free thinkers develop creative sales ideas. Once you start thinking outside the box, you’ll no longer sound and act like every other sales rep.
I wish you overwhelming sales success and I hope you’ll put these creative sales ideas to good use.
