Sales Tips For A Fast Start To The 2010 Sales Year
The first quarter often sets the tone for the entire sales year. It’s important to focus on a fast start instead of trying to make up for lost ground. When you are over quota at the end of QI, you have sales momentum behind you that can make your entire year. Here are some sales tips that can help you get a fast start selling in 2010.
Attitude
Forget the economy and focus on the things you can control. Many expect the economy to improve in 2010 but no one knows for sure. One thing you totally control is your attitude. Remove the word “excuses” from your vocabulary because excuses will not put one penny in your pocket. In fact, also forget the word “try”. People that fear they may fail use the word “try”. March with overwhelming confidence in 2010 and expect to succeed. That’s the first step in planning for a fast start in 2010.
Sales Funnel
Take inventory of your sales funnel and remove those “prospects” that you know will never buy from you. You don’t have time for them. Instead, use your prospecting skills to replace them with qualified opportunities. Pack your sales funnel with people that can and will buy from you because that’s key to fast start in the new sales year.
Bad Habits
It’s easy to get stuck in routines and often those routines contain some bad habits. Now is the time to get rid of those bad habits while developing new habits that will lead to sales success. If you are doing something that is holding you back, dismiss it like a bad dream. New success driven habits are the ticket to fast start in the new sales year. If you noticed you’ve started to use some shortcuts, get back to the basics of the sales process. There’s no room for shortcuts in professional selling.
Development
Get some sales training now. Develop new skills and sales techniques and make this development effort something you maintain throughout the year. This effort will improve your salesmanship but it goes further than that. You’ll also get a healthy increase in motivation because you’ll be anxious to put your new skill to good use. A solid sales training CD could lead the way to your fast start in this new sales year.
I wish you the best of sales success in 2010 and it all starts with a fast start.
Get going!
