The Right Sales Attitude Produces Positive Sales Results
I’m in constant communications with sales reps around the world and my fist topic of conversation is always about their sales attitude. It’s no surprise that successful reps have a better attitude than those struggling to survive. How hard is it to have a positive sales attitude when everything is going your way? Here is some sales advice on the development of a healthy sales attitude.
A positive sales attitude changes everything when it comes to sales. A rep lacking motivation is going to have a difficult time motivating potential buys to take positive action. On the other hand, motivated sales rep with the right sales attitude, tend to attract prospects ready to do business. As difficult as it may be, those unmotivated sales reps better quickly develop the right sales attitude if they expect to succeed.
I fully appreciate how the economy plays a role in conditioning sales attitudes. Some sales reps tell me that no one is buying. I quickly remind them that the problem is not that no one is buying. The problem is that many of them are just not selling. The first step in developing a positive sales attitude is a willingness to look inward and not outward.
My goal is set priorities straight because only then will these unmotivated reps develop the right sales attitude. Besides, prospects are buying. They just aren’t buying from reps with the wrong sales attitude.
Reps with the wrong sales attitude are quick to blame the economy because it’s a convenient excuse to put their lives, careers and incomes on hold until the economy improves. That’s a foolish strategy that will lead to failure. It’s time for those reps to dust themselves off and get back in the race. It starts with the right sales attitude.
So, why will next month or quarter be better than last month or the last quarter? Too many sales reps can’t answer that important question. They have no plan and they are paralyzed into inactivity. All that would change if only they would develop a healthy sales attitude.
It is important to note that you can’t develop a positive sales attitude by attempting to trick yourself into believing something you truly don’t believe. Instead, you need to take concrete action that gives you a solid reason to know that next month will be better than last month. Developing a positive sales attitude is not about mental tricks. A healthy sales attitude is all about taking positive action.
So, what actions can you take to develop a positive sales attitude? What actions can you take today to insure tomorrow will be better? I suggest you discover some new sales techniques and strategies that you can bring to the field. Develop a positive sales attitude by further developing sales skills. You’ll get all that and more in a powerful sales training program.
To your sales success!
