Get Rid Of Sales Gimmicks
Sales Gimmicks Are Not Used By Pros.
I dislike sales gimmicks. In fact, I find sales gimmicks insulting. I just leafed through a magazine packed with the most overused sales gimmick so I just had to Post about it.
“Free” is the most overused sales gimmick. If you are going to give me something for free, make sure it has value and that it’s something that normally has a price. Otherwise, it’s a sales gimmick and causes me to wonder if I want something from someone trying to pull the wool over my eyes.
OVER USE OF SALES GIMMICKS
In a single magazine I found the following “Free” sales gimmicks.
How about a “free price quote” on auto insurance? I wonder how much they normally charge to tell you their rates.
Promoting tourisms, one State offers a “Free Official State Vacation Planner”. Not only is the brochure free, but it’s also “official”.
I HATE SALES GIMMICKS
An ad for Life Insurance offered “free information” about their product. How nice of them not to charge me to find out about their product.
A plastic surgeon offered a “free brochure”. Once again, someone not charging me to learn about their service. How generous!
I know the word “free” is powerful but if you are going to give me something for free, give me something! Otherwise, it’s just a blatantly obvious sales gimmick.
I think the people that came up with those advertisements should work for free.
By the way, order one of my sales training DVDs and I’ll ship it to you in a free DVD case, LOL!
Stay away from sales gimmicks. You don’t need them.
