Where Are The Jobs For The Unemployed

Too many people are asking the same question. Where are the jobs? Based on what I see, the future isn’t bright for those that overlook what they have to contribute.

I heard that one in ten American workers are unemployed and wondering where are the jobs! My first question is why should corporations hire more employees. I wish they would but why should they?

Payroll and the associated cost of benefits are down as companies reduce staff. However, I read that last year’s output per worker hour in the U.S. grew to a rate of 2.5%. So, you increase worker productivity while cutting costs and you ask… where are the jobs!

Those focused on contributing to a company’s bottom line aren’t asking, “Where are the jobs”. Having a job isn’t an entitlement in this society. In today’s economic climate you can’t separate working from producing. Those days may be, and should be, over forever.

If you can generate revenue for an employer, you don’t need to ask about where the jobs are because companies thrive on revenue and profits.  Where are the jobs? They are going to those that can add to a company’s bottom line.

So, who adds to the bottom line? Successful salespeople add to the bottom line. Successful salespeople aren’t wondering about where are the jobs. If you are contributing to a company’s profits, you’ll have to screw up big time to be out of a job.

I hear from a lot of sales reps that are looking for work. Often, these reps haven’t achieved quota for many months before they got terminated. They are quick to blame the economy, their pricing and their territories for their failure. When I ask them about the last time they invested in some sales training… they scratch their heads. No wonder they are asking, “Where are the jobs”!!!

How far could a “pilot” fly if her or her never got trained? I don’t like being harsh but too many reps are to blame for their own failure. Unless they get serious about their sales skills they’ll all eventually be asking the same question. Where are the jobs?

Top producing reps earned the right to sit at the top of the ranking. They didn’t wait for someone to train them. They went out and got their own sales training. That’s why the top twenty percent of reps earn eighty percent of the commissions… and why they are not screaming… Where are the jobs!

If you are thinking about a career in sales, I urge you to get some sales career training. If you are looking for more sales success, get some powerful sales training. Knowledge is power and could help you thrive while others are asking… where are the jobs!

Create your future!
