Salesmanship: All You Need To Know
By – Nick Moreno
Salesmanship is what my work is all about. I’ve dedicated my life to salesmanship and I wrote much on the topic. In this post, I want to list a few of my special articles on the topic of salesmanship.I see less and less salesmanship. Companies have cut back on their sales training budgets so salesmanship has taken a big hit. Companies feel they can hire reps that understand salesmanship but nothing replaces sales training. For that reason, I wrote about the lost art of salesmanship.
Too many reps substitute hard work for salesmanship and that leads to failure. Salesmanship is a skill and all skills make something look easier… not harder. If you are going to work hard at something, work hard at acquiring the skills of salesmanship.
Salesmanship – You know it when you see it!
Selling is about salesmanship and many believe salesmanship is about persuasion skills. Salesmanship turns a prospect into a client and there is no doubt that persuasion skills play a big part in it. If you are interested in this aspect of salesmanship, you should read my article on persuasion skills.
How can you tell if your sales organization is focused on salesmanship? I’ll tell you one place you should not look. Don’t look at your sales reports. If you want to know why, read my work on lost order reports.
In most sales organizations, no one person is in charge of promoting salesmanship. If that responsibility is given to anyone, salesmanship usually falls on the back of the sales training department. For that reason, I wrote about training the sales trainer.
I’m sure you have many skills. How many of those skills will earn you a living? Salesmanship skills will more than earn a good living for you.
The Keys To Salesmanship
Why is salesmanship so very important? Salesmanship is only important if you expect to fell a lot and grow revenues. As I mentioned, many organizations think they can hire reps that already know salesmanship. I feel that is a failed strategy but if you don’t agree, at least read my work on sales assessment tests.
How To Improve Salesmanship
There is only one way to improve salesmanship. You need to get your hands on sales training designed to improve the skills required to sell with superior salesmanship. Once you uncover salesmanship, you’ll enjoy a great sales career.
Promote Salesmanship!
