Every rep wants to focus on how to close sales. I’ve identified two steps in the sales process that cry out for a sales closing attempt. Never let these special moments in the sales process pass you by without asking for the order. This closing sales strategy puts you, the salesperson, on “auto pilot”. You don’t have to think about closing sales… you just do it. But first, let’s explore why so many salespeople have major problems with the easiest step in the sales process… closing sales.
How To Close Sales With Powerful Sales Training
Sadly, many professional sales reps were trained to believe they should “Always Be Closing” and feel that is the key to close more sales. In fact, many still believe those three words are the “ABCs” of sales skills. Fact is, sales training that promotes “Always Be Closing” is flat out wrong. You can’t always be closing sales. You can’t ignore all the other aspects of the sales process and just focus on closing sales. Before you start to close more sales, you need to get in position to close sales.
There are a few things you need to remember if you expect to close more sales. Before you attempt to start closing sales, you have to successfully accomplish a few things with your prospect. You have to establish a comfort zone between you and your sales prospect. You have to ask questions that uncover a need for your product. Also, you have to present your product as the solution to the problems you’ve uncovered… and more. You see, you have a great deal of work to do before you are in position to close more sales. That’s why there is no room for “Always Be Closing” in professional sales training and you will not find that sales closing concept in any of my sales training programs.

Let’s get back to those “sales reps” that never ask for the order but hope to close more sales. These salespeople just hope, against all odds, that the sales prospect is going to jump up and say, “Where Do I Sign?”. We all know how often that happens and why that’s not the way to close more sales! These salespeople not only need help with their sales closing skills but they also need help to overcome their fear of closing sales. You can’t make money in a sales career if you have a fear about closing sales. That’s like being a surgeon and fearing blood. You’ll close more sales faster when you have the confidence to ask for the order.

In my professional sales training programs, I’ve discovered a long list of factors that cause some salespeople to fear closing sales. Many of these salespeople go into a panic attack when they are about to face the moment of truth and panic is not how to close more sales. Other salespeople are uncomfortable about appearing too aggressive. Still others, assume on their own, without any information but a gut feeling, that their sales prospect is not ready to close the deal. The only way to help these sales people to close more sales is to put closing sales on “auto pilot”. I don’t want them think about closing sales. I want them to know when to close and just jump in and do it! In my professional sales training, I show them how to automatically begin closing sales after successfully completing two special steps in the sales process.
The Trial Close Is How To Close More Sales Faster
So just when is it that you must close sales and operate on “auto pilot mode”? The first closing sales attempt is the trial close. You’ve uncovered a problem and you’ve just presented a solution to that problem. At this point, you must, no questioned asked, attempt to close the sale… so ask for the order. Don’t spend a single second thinking about it. Just go ahead and ask your sales prospect for the order. You’ve uncovered a problem… you presented the solution… ask for the order! This strategy makes closing sales automatic. It is the best way to close more sales faster. In fact, it is the only way to close more sales.
At this point in the sales process, only two things can happen. First, you close the sale… Congratulations! Or, you get hit with some sales objections. It’s all good, because you flushed out the sales objections and now you are in position to address them and start closing sales. This strategy will help you close more sales.
How To Close Sales The Automatic Way
Everything didn’t fall apart just because you got some sales objections. You should expect some sales objections because sales prospects feel it’s their duty to force you to work a little before you start closing sales. Successfully address all the sales objections, and once you do… you must, once again, ask for the order and close the sale. Don’t think about it… just close the sale. Can you see how this makes closing sales automatic? Can you see how this will help you close more sales?
Closing The Sale
So, after successfully completing two important steps in the sales process, you must ask for the business. The first closing attempt is the Initial Close, which happens after you’ve presented your product as the solution to your prospect’s problem. The second closing attempt must happen once you’ve successfully addressed all your prospect’s sales objections. Put the two together and you’ll close more sales.
